“WINDOWS INTO HEAVEN” CAPITAL CAMPAIGN ENDS IN TWO WEEKS
Good news--We have signed the contracts for the two beautiful new windows for our transepts! Now we need to complete the funding.
Our capital campaign ends in one week. We received $150,000 in challenge pledges. Now we need to raise the remaining $150,000 to
completely fund this project. So far we have received 52 additional pledges totaling $100,194. We need many more pledges of all
sizes to raise the remaining $49,806. The final total will be announced at our St. Bart’s Day celebration on August 24th.
To help us reach the goal, please complete and return your pledge card in the offering plate today. Extra pledge cards are available in the Narthex.
ST BART’S DAY PICNIC
The annual St. Bartholomew's Day picnic is held today after the 10 o'clock service. Fried chicken is provided. Bring a potluck dish to share.
Volunteers are needed to make this event a success: shopping, set up, kitchen crew or cleanup.
A sign-up list for these activities is posted on the bulletin boards outside the church office.

Sandy Stone Off to Uganda Again
Sandy leaves September 1st. for a month in Uganda . She has been there many times before, and this will be her 23rd. trip with
Medical Teams International. She has to pay some of her own expenses, so if you would like to donate to this most worthy cause,
make a check out to St. Bart's, noting that it is for Sandy. We don't all have the nursing skills or courage Sandy has to do
these trips, but we can certainly support her financially and prayerfully.

2009 Hood to Coast Relay
Once again St. Bart's is going to put together a Hood to Coast Relay team (co-ed).
If you are a runner (even if you're not in condition, you have a year to train) and want to have a fun and would like to get to
know other St. Bart's runners, this is your event. The team also needs two drivers and three course volunteers.
2006 was the last time St. Bart's participated in HTC and all the members of the team had a great time (at least I didn't hear any complaints).
HTC in a nutshell: 12 runner team, each runner will run three legs of the race, each leg will vary in distance (3 to 7 miles) and degree of difficulty. The course starts at Timberline lodge on Mt. Hood and finishes in Seaside. Event date Friday, August 21 to 22, 2009 (assumed dates, will verify next month).
Our goal is to have fun, run safely, and finish. Cost $100 per runner; this will cover entry fee, and is needed by October 1, 2008.
We will split other costs that come up like gas, possible van rental, etc.
Sign up is on the bulletin board outside the church office. Any questions call Tony Sepe 503-913-6235 cell.
Diocesan E Board
These are exciting, interesting, transitional times in our diocese! One way to keep up is by receiving the weekly E-Board from the Bishop's office.
If you would like to receive this helpful resource, email Janice Lusk at: janicel@diocese-oregon.org.
ST BART’S CHOIR
The St. Bartholomew's Choir will begin rehearsal on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7:15 P.M. We cordially invite anyone who likes to sing to come join us.
We rehearse each Thursday evening and sing for services about three times a month. There are special seasonal services as well.
Our repertoire ranges from Anglican standards to gospel. Ability to read music is a plus, of course, but is not required if you have
the ability to pick up parts quickly from others. Don't hide your musical light under a bushel basket!
The choir needs voices in all sections. If you are interested, contact music director Ward Nelson at wardnel@aol.com

A request to make 2 to 3 doz. of your favorite cookies or loaf cake for that memorial service would be appreciated.
